WORKSHOP: SIMPLY FELTED

This workshop is a introduction to needle felting. This course includes the basics of feltmaking. No experience is necessary. In this workshop, we make simple shapes: squares, hearts, circles, and balls. The aim of this workshop is to introduce the basis of the needle felting process and to meet the specific materials and tools.

I always like that people leave my workshops with a useful finished item.
What can you do with these felted pieces?

- A contemporary broche: Just sew a pin on the back.
- A special wishing card: pin your broche in one of my illustration templates (or create your own design). It’s the perfect gift.
- A stylish wall decoration: just frame it!!

What's needle felting?

Felting is a non-woven process where woollen fibres are matted, condensed and pressed.
There are two felting processes: wet felting, with warm water and soap, or needle felting, with a barbed needle.
Needle felting or dry felting is when wool fleece is interlocked and compacted by using pointed, barbed needles to sculpt a shape.
This technique is used to make all types of items such as bags, slippers, teddy bears, jewellery… But it is especially good at sculpting small items in 3D with fine detail.

Needle felting is a fun fibre-art suitable for every body: the technique is simple, the material is cheap, just few tools are needed, the working surface is small and the process is clean and tidy.
Because of its wide range of applications and how simple is to work with it, Needle felting is the perfect craft option for all craft lovers.

About me

Welcome to tortueBCN blog, I introduce myself:

My name is Natzaret. Member of the guild Feltmakers Ireland, I teach needle felting. But I have a real passion for all crafts.

My love of handmade craft goes back to my childhood. I was born in Barcelona, where my first teachers were my wonderfully talented grandmother and mother. At present, I am working and living in Dublin, Ireland. And I am taking courses from the National college of Art and Design in Dublin.

I am inspired by the materials themselves. I love crocheting, sewing, needle felting and illustrating.
My products are beautiful and functional. Detail, colour, simplicity and texture define my style.
The result is TortueBCN, a small independent label that creates fun colourful accessories for every body.
